What is the minimum Android OS version to run Setel Lite?

If you are seeing a timing error, this is likely due to the time set on your device being out of sync from the time on our system. As a result, access is denied for security reasons.
This issue can be resolved by setting the time on your device to automatic and letting it synchronise with Internet time.

Why am I getting a timing error?

This feature is currently only available in the regular Setel app.

Can I upgrade my wallet via Setel Lite?

Turning on the GPS helps to locate your exact position and the nearest station.
Without GPS, we cannot accurately pinpoint the nearest station or perform precise route planning.

Why do I need to turn on my GPS? 

Unfortunately, Setel Lite can currently only be used for Kedai Mesra purchases.

Can I make other purchases with Setel Lite?

Your limits will be reduced according to the BNM guidelines if you are on an unsupported version of the Android operating system (OS) or device (even if the e-KYC verification is completed).
Limits will be restored once you are on a supported Android version/device.
As of March 2023, only Android OS versions 11 and above are supported.

I have completed e-KYC. Why has my daily and single transaction limits been reduced to RM200?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to continue using the Setel app.
To continue enjoying Setel's feature, please update your app to the latest version. Our app updates regularly to bring you the latest features and security updates to keep you safe.

What if I don't update my app?

If you’re on an unsupported version of the Android operating system, your daily transaction limit and single transaction limit will be reduced to RM200 (as per BNM guidelines).

Why should I update my Android operating system (OS)?

Sure thing! However, logging into one app will log you out of the other and you cannot be logged into both apps at the same time.
Fuelling transactions made in either app may also be viewed on the other. However non-fuelling transactions in the regular Setel app will not appear in Setel Lite.

Can I have both the regular Setel app and Setel Lite on my device and use them alternately?

The transaction limit for Setel Lite is RM 200 daily as per the national bank's (BNM) regulation. How do I pay for Kedai Mesra purchases with Setel Lite?

You will first need to <a href="https://help.setel.com/article/10215807641613/how-do-i-enable-one-tap-fuelling" target="_self" rel="undefined">configure your one-tap preferences in the Setel mobile app</a>. Once that is done, you will be able to initiate refuelling with just one tap from the Setel watch app at the station.
 
At the station, tap the pump number you are at.

How do I use one-tap Fuelling with the watch app?

Yes. In order to keep enjoying services provided by Setel, you are required to update your app version to the latest version for security reasons.

Is app version update mandatory?

Setel Lite is only available for Android and Huawei devices for the moment.

Is Setel Lite available for iOS?

Kindly update your Setel app version to at least version 1.91.0 by 8th August 2022 to avoid any disrupted services in Setel.

When is the latest due date for me to update my app version?

The trusted device feature is an additional security measure for your account. It works by sending a login request to your verified(trusted) device whenever a login is detected on a new device. If you approve the login request, your account will be logged in on your new device.

What is a trusted device and how does it work?

You will need to make sure you have a credit/debit card linked in the Setel app first.
Launch the app and tap on the top-up button and your wallet will be reloaded.

How do I use my credit/debit card with the watch app?

We designed Setel Lite to be as lightweight as possible without sacrificing the most important features so that it only requires 15 MB of storage.

What is the app file size?

Not if your app version is no longer supported. For security concerns, outdated versions of the app are not allowed to use Setel's feature until it has been updated.

Can I refuel with Setel before updating the app?

Developed to cater to those with budget smartphones or those who live in areas with low or irregular internet availability, Setel Lite is a lightweight version of the regular Setel app many of our users already know and love.
Though lightweight, Setel Lite still offers you a complete <a href="https://help.setel.com/article/9490448717325/how-do-i-refuel-using-setel-lite">refuelling experience</a>, just like in the regular Setel app.

What do I do if the Setel app is not loading?

No.
The watch app mirrors the fuelling progress screens from the main app so it is not a separate process.

Can I use the watch app for fuelling and the main app for a Kedai Mesra purchase simultaneously?

Unfortunately, no. The Setel watch app can only be used together with iPhones as it is a companion app to the iOS version of the Setel app.

Can I use the watch app if I own an Android phone?

Your Setel app might be outdated.
Please update your app to the latest version (above 1.89) and log in again.

I am on a supported Android operating system (OS) but why is my single transaction limit and daily transaction limit still RM200?

If your Android operating system (OS) version is not supported, you will not be able to maintain your transaction limits.
Your daily and single transaction limits will be reduced according to the BNM guidelines.
Please update your Android OS or use a supported device to continue enjoying the latest features on the Setel app.

I can’t update my Android OS, can I still maintain my transaction limits?

Unfortunately, voucher redemption is currently not available in Lite. You are only able to redeem your Mesra Rewards points into wallet balance on Setel Lite.

Why can't I redeem vouchers on Setel Lite?

If the new device's operating system (OS) is supported, your transaction limit will be restored.
Your limits will be based on your e-KYC status (approved or incomplete).

Setel's Watch app is available for Apple Watch (Series 2 onwards) and will be automatically installed.

How do I install Setel on my Apple Watch?

Yes, but only if refuelling is not in progress. You will not be able to cancel the order once you have started refuelling regardless if on the watch app or the Setel mobile app.

Can I cancel the refuelling with the watch app?

Yes, this feature is available for all Setel users with versions 1.100 and above. Users who have Apple Watch (Series 2 onwards) will have Setel’s watch app automatically installed on their Apple Watch.

Is the one-Tap Fuelling feature supported for all iOS watch users?

As per health, safety, and environment (HSE) guidelines, the Setel app is safe to be used near the pumps.
With the Setel watch app, the same guidelines apply, where users initiate fuelling via the watch app from inside their vehicle, leave their mobile phones in the vehicles (for 4-wheel vehicles), and walk to the pump to refuel.

Is it safe to initiate fuelling at the pump?

Of course! We would never dream of depriving Setel Lite users from earning Mesra Rewards points.
However, converting Mesra Rewards points into wallet balance or using them to purchase vouchers is currently not supported.

Can I earn Mesra Rewards points for fuel purchases made with Setel Lite?

Setel Lite for Huawei supports EMUI 3 and above.

What is the minimum Huawei OS version to run Setel Lite for Huawei?

Yes, the app is designed to minimise data usage and works well on slower 3G networks or internet connections.

Can the app work with slow network speeds?

The login request will be sent to your trusted device via in-app notification. Once you receive it, you have 60 seconds to approve or reject it. If the login request is rejected, the login request on the new device will be denied.

How do I approve the trusted device login request and how much time do I have to approve it?

How do I update the Setel app?

Setel app supports the following device/OS versions.
